Ibuki Charred Wood
Premium charred wood, refined by tradition.
SwiftSure Milling & Mouldings specializes in premium wood products, and the Ibuki Line brings that same focus to charred architectural cladding.
Handcrafted from select STK Western Red Cedar, the material is chosen for tight grain and sound knots so the wood's natural character remains visible through the Shou Sugi Ban process. The result is a bold, textured surface that emphasizes depth, warmth and the distinctive beauty of Western Red Cedar.

The process
Charring and wire brushing, taken one step further.
The Ibuki process is influenced by traditional Shou Sugi Ban methods, pairing controlled surface charring with wire brushing to reveal more of the wood's natural grain and tactile character.
Careful brushing after charring creates a distinctive architectural finish while supporting the longevity of the wood's natural properties. The visual effect is bold but refined: deep grain, controlled variation and a surface that feels crafted rather than manufactured.
